After finally defeating Sin forever, Tidus, who is revealed to be a spirit, begins to fade away. In the Japanese version of Final Fantasy X, Yuna simply says “Thank you” before he disappears. The English version has her say, “I love you,” which makes sense, but I prefer the Japanese version. The single, simple word “Thank you” carries a profound impact, encapsulating everything that has transpired since they first met.

Things We Receive Are Not Granted
Whenever possible, try to express gratitude to those around you. Genuine appreciation not only makes the recipient feel happier, but it also positively impacts us. This win-win situation has proven to have healthy effects on our mind and body—making it a win-win-win situation!
Saying “Thank you” costs nothing. Actions and favors done by others should never be taken for granted. Being thankful acknowledges the effort and thoughtfulness of others.
When faced with harsh criticism or severe words, try to thank the person for their feedback and the time they took to provide it. (Of course, if the messages are merely insulting or deliberately harmful, it is appropriate to disregard them.) Also, try to place yourself in the sender’s position. Responding calmly and with empathy can facilitate more constructive communication.
Recall a Gratitude Story Daily
Make it a habit to recall a story or event where you or someone received genuine gratitude. Spend a few minutes each day reflecting on this story during a short meditation. For instance, I once saw a video of a teacher who asked her students to draw something they were thankful for. One girl drew trees because they provide the oxygen we breathe. A humorous boy drew chocolate because it’s delicious, and a shy boy drew a hand—his teacher’s hand—because she had always been kind to him when he was a bit of a loner.
