The notion of time and its flow was mysterious for the Espers as well. Just like their inner Shadows, which can only be perceived when the StarDust that lies within them finally shines, Time was difficult to grasp without taking the time to think about it.
This is where Shala, the Shape of Time, served as an anchor for anyone who felt a bit lost when it came to managing their own time.
For books, for example, there is a simple logical order of things.
The story begins by introducing the scenery and the characters.
Then it expands using the elements described in the introduction.
An unexpected development, climax, or important situation changes the flow of the story.
And finally, a conclusion that builds upon the results of that development brings it to an end.
For an Esper who is finally able to make decisions, how their own story will unfold lies in their own hands. How they choose to spend time on certain things rather than others will change the flow of their story.
And when they remind themselves of Shala, it helps them remember what is truly important to them, and how they genuinely want to spend their time.
