A Common Ground

When you think about it, planet Earth is just a rock floating through space around the Sun, carrying life upon it.

Not so long ago, human beings were not even aware of this reality.

Now we know we share a common ground with all living things—the air we breathe, the oceans, the soil beneath our feet.

Civilizations spread across the world without realizing others existed. Most of us will spend our entire lives without directly encountering other cultures.

Yet we are all connected, and the damage done to Nature is shared by us all.

What were once called “natural disasters” have grown in strength and frequency. They are no longer purely natural, but human-influenced.

Earth will continue its journey through space, with or without us upon it.

What is in danger is not the planet itself.

It is the future of human life.
