“America First” – But at What Cost for the Rest of the World?

The saddest part of all this is the military escalation it triggers, especially in Europe.

Time is running out, unfortunately, and the “natural” and legitimate response to a potential attack is to increase defense spending. So, we pour more money into weapons. And, naturally, we cut budgets in areas deemed “less important.” That will likely be education and healthcare…

For lasting global peace, we need a widespread awakening—an awareness among ordinary people, the general public.

We must stop being passive in the face of statements that only make me want to cry.

The potential invasion is real, so it seems “we have no choice.”

But once we understand that raising public awareness simply requires taking better care of our brains, things will finally start to change.

It’s very simple. But many won’t like it. And the real problem is that, for this to be implemented, those in power would first need to be aware themselves…

The words of Secretary of State Marco Rubio are a perfect example of a lack of awareness—statements from someone obsessed with his country and only his country. And it’s a good representation of the prevailing, unconscious mindset.

Every day, the news makes me want to cry a little more, but I remain convinced that developing critical thinking among the population is the key to real change.

The message is simple and clear: build healthy habits for our brains. Develop critical thinking. For some, this will happen naturally; for others, it will take effort. But over time, it will create a non-violent movement—one that allows people to finally see the world from a perspective beyond their own.

But this takes time. It requires personal effort. It requires breaking free from passivity, taking action—finally.

In France, we are globally known for “speaking our minds.”

Now is the time to do just that—to lead by example, first for ourselves, and then for other nations, some of which do not have the same privileges or means as we do.

We all have the power to create change in our own way. And that simply means doing what is best for ourselves!

Neuroscience and neurobiology now show that we can make our brains more “plastic”—this is neuroplasticity. And it directly influences how we think and reason.

To summarize: A healthy brain increases our chances of becoming more aware. By becoming more aware, we make more conscious choices. And through these choices and actions, we influence those around us—directly or indirectly. Especially children.

As human beings, we have a responsibility. There is no true freedom without a sense of responsibility.

One for all, and all for one.

    Against the Current

Making the right choices is not often easy. Especially when the almost insurmountable flow of society as a whole imposes a vision from which it is difficult to break free. Thinking or acting against the current then becomes a trial that is at once discouraging, irritating, and sometimes almost ridiculous, yet within which a glimmer…

    Is There Really a Need?

The period of abundance brought about by the massive and limitless use of magic had come to an end. Not by choice, as might have happened if the Espers had managed to agree on difficult questions, such as the consequences of their actions on Aether, the planet’s source of life, or the inequalities caused by…

    Interdependence in a Limited World

The Seven Shapes had clearly understood that, in order to rebuild Esperia, everyone’s efforts would be necessary, whatever their element. The period preceding the War of Chaos had developed, throughout all the elemental lands, the understandable but fruitless feeling that the fault always lay with others and that making efforts oneself only meant putting oneself…

    Taking Mental Health Seriously

If there is one thing that is difficult for the Espers to do, it is to properly take into consideration everything that is not visible to their eyes: the future rather than the present moment, the system as a whole rather than their personal situation, the general Shadow of their entire civilization… And mental health…

    Recognizing Your Own Faults

For the Espers, managing to recover the artifact of lightning, the spark of thunder, was perhaps the most difficult ordeal for most of them. To do so, they had to cross a region known as the thunderstruck plains, where Aether had accumulated and given birth to a place where lightning struck randomly and without interruption.…

Listening to Others and Listening to Yourself

The Espers were, all things considered, rather curious beings. Their history, spanning several tens of thousands of years, had led them, not without difficulties, to control their planet, to the point of being capable of impacting its global ecosystem. The discovery and use of magic had accelerated the evolution of their civilization, but they also…

A World That Has Become Ultra-Complex

The civilization of the Espers had been built over thousands of years, and for a newborn discovering the world, this meant trying to make connections between billions of objects and increasingly complex and abstract systems, in which billions of individuals were put to work, while no one could fully understand how they functioned anymore. And…

    Magic and Aether

The excessive development of the Espers’ civilization through the use of magic had also made it possible to understand its consequences for the entire planet. Just as the Espers learn from their mistakes, perhaps irony had it that they would understand, decades later, the true gravity of their past actions. Magic had given them the…
