Arrogant Ignorance

To illustrate today’s lesson on Consciousness, Eklea had chosen an expression describing the attitude of the king of a small country who, ignorant of the rest of the world, believed himself to be the ruler of the greatest country in existence.

A cunning Esper, himself rather arrogant, began to laugh and commented:

“Another one who thought he was more than he truly was.”

Eklea built on this remark and asked the following question.

“That’s true, but who has not, at some point, expressed an opinion without truly knowing the subject in depth? More generally, who has never shown arrogance, simply because they were unaware of the situation?

The cunning Esper reflected on moments when his arrogance had overtaken his consciousness and had led him to act in the same way.

He became a little ashamed and nodded.

“It is often much easier to observe the mistakes of others. Succeeding in observing one’s own requires effort.”

“We sometimes act without real control over our thoughts. It is then our inner Shadow that acts in our place. Remembering this little story is a good way to bring ourselves back down to earth and regain awareness of our actions.”
