Everyone Inside Their Own Bubble

Eklea, the Shape of Awareness, was giving a lesson today at the Great Library of Esperia.

Rebuilding the civilization of the Espers would take time and require everyone’s efforts toward a goal understood and embraced by all.

That was no small task, was it?

Especially if one looked back at the events of the past, which showed a civilization that seemed in no way capable of such an achievement.

But the Seven Shapes refused to give up. They were now convinced that the discovery of the StarDust might be the missing key that would allow their civilization to reach a true consensus.

The theme of today’s discussion was the Shadow, which exists within every Esper, and how it creates a bubble in which values and the things that truly matter become confined.

For children, for example, the Shadow has not yet developed, and so their bubble knows no limits: carefree hearts and boundless imagination are simply their natural state, allowing their bubble to embrace everything on the planet.

As they grow older, the Shadow takes shape and often shrinks that bubble until it is little larger than the individual. Just like the Shadow—which can only be seen and tamed after developing one’s StarDust—this bubble is invisible at first glance.

Many things shape its size and form: education, experiences, relationships with other Espers, knowledge…

“The unspoken goal is for every Esper to develop enough StarDust and tame enough of their Shadow so that their bubble expands infinitely, just as it did when they were children…” Eklea said with a smile.

“Now that we know about the StarDust, that goal is no longer a fantasy, but a reality that requires everyone’s efforts to become possible!”

    Magic and Aether

The excessive development of the Espers’ civilization through the use of magic had also made it possible to understand its consequences for the entire planet. Just as the Espers learn from their mistakes, perhaps irony had it that they would understand, decades later, the true gravity of their past actions. Magic had given them the…

    One Thing at a Time

Esperia was rebuilding itself slowly but surely, upon foundations that now seemed right in everyone’s eyes. The StarDust and its existence had become widely accepted, and the initiatory journey that each Esper had to undertake to recover their own artifacts had become part of everyday life, far more quickly than the Seven Shapes had ever…

    The Seven Artifacts

On Esperia, the quest to recover the Seven Artifacts was now considered the essential foundation for entering adult life. Indeed, this adventure made it possible to learn about the world by crossing the lands of the five elements, and to better understand the sometimes abstract notions of time and balance. But above all, it also…

    Accepting Our Mistakes

No one, whoever they were, could change the face of the world alone. The Seven Shapes understood this well, and although they had now become the symbol of Esperia’s renewal, they also knew that the efforts would have to be made by everyone. And for that, first and foremost, it was important to accept one’s…

    No Nature, No Food

As a civilization that considers itself advanced, it would seem obvious that the connection between nature, its benefits, and the fundamental need to sustain ourselves through the food it provides should be something everyone understands. The society of the Espers before the Chaos War, which had basked in luxury and consumption made possible through the…

    Suddenly, I See

Gathering the seven artifacts was a quest that was also, perhaps above all, an adventure that allowed them to learn to better understand themselves. A Sincere Willingness to Share

The Chaos War had clearly shown that the cycle of wars would never end as long as people’s mindsets did not evolve. And the discovery of magic, which had made the civilization of the Espers more prosperous, had in no way changed the way they saw things. On the contrary, society was becoming increasingly individualistic…

    Learning to Pass On

If the use of magic had brought many benefits to the daily lives of the Espers, the world before the Chaos War had changed enormously, for better and for worse. No one could have imagined how much society would change thanks to the new technologies made possible by magic. The population had exploded, as had…
