Global Understanding Impossible Without Compromise

This was the conclusion that now seemed obvious to everyone, following the global disaster of the Chaos War.

No understanding on a planetary scale would be possible without compromise.

And the world before the war was far from being a world where making compromises came naturally.

On the contrary, by exacerbating individualism, it had become a world where letting go had come to be seen as an infringement on personal freedom.

Yet, whether in an individual discussion or in debates on a global scale, making compromises also means showing empathy.

And isn’t that the true meaning of compassion?

Learning to hold oneself back in order to move things forward, rather than always wanting to be right or returning blow for blow.

Being able to make compromises—perhaps that, too, is what it means to become an adult.
