Language

One of the most underrated “skills” to learn is language. For those lucky enough to have had access to education, the use of language in all its forms—be it speaking, reading, or writing—may seem obvious and trivial.

But it isn’t trivial at all. Mastering a language is one of the key skills to develop.

Why?

Because as members of a group, being able to understand others and express ourselves is absolutely essential.

Also, as social creatures, we naturally navigate an inherent “ranking” within our communities—and mastery of language plays a role in this. The ability to write poetry or deliver moving speeches are skills highly valued by society.

How to get better?

By reading books.

It is certainly one of the best hobbies one can cultivate in our hyper-connected world.
