With age, we slowly begin to lose muscle mass naturally. And in many sedentary countries, desk work doesn’t help make up for this loss. That’s why it’s important to do a few exercises—ideally every day—to rebuild the muscles that are lost.

It’s a combination of a few things:

  • Balanced nutrition. The energy we use comes from our food. The healthier the food, the better our body becomes, using stronger resources to build itself.
  • Resistance training. This means doing exercises that focus on building muscles. Most of us don’t aim to become professional athletes, and many exercises can be done at home, without any equipment—just using our body weight!
  • Proper sleep and recovery. We already talked about how sleep is a superpower. This is especially true for muscles, because our body needs good rest to build new ones.

More muscles also mean more calories burned by our body—without us even doing anything!
