On Equal Terms

Cha Cha, our dear little platypus friend, was discussing one of his theories with Guruko.

“When you think about a relationship on equal terms, we don’t usually think about comparing individuals from different countries. We often remain focused on a given country, often the one of our birth.” he thought.

“Isn’t that normal? Many people don’t know other countries, so how can we compare?” she asked.

“That is an excellent point! And that is also the heart of the matter. Can we really speak of equal relationships across the world when we are mostly unaware of what is happening beyond our borders?”

“That’s true, in order to even try to compare, we first need to know the points of comparison.”

“Taking that into account leads to something essential: it makes us more humble, because it puts into perspective the immense chances we have, living in a country like the Land of Wind, a haven of peace.”

“That’s true, there can be no real equality when the points of comparison are so extreme to begin with…”

“And that is exactly the issue. We must first understand and see that this problem exists in order to try to remedy it. But unfortunately, everyone is still closed within their own world. Trying to create a globally united world, where people’s efforts can serve others without fear, to finally have a unified vision, is the real great challenge.”

“Doesn’t that seem too idealistic?”

“It is a great challenge. But the discovery of the StarDust may be the faint light at the end of the tunnel we have long needed!”

    Learning to Think

Vati, the Shape of Wisdom, had spent a long time thinking about which pillars were essential for creating a society in which harmony between peoples from different backgrounds would be possible, while also trying to preserve the ecosystem in which they lived. A task that seemed utopian to populations disillusioned by institutions they no longer…

  • The Importance of Nuance

    The Importance of Nuance

The values of Esper civilization, decided following the end of the Chaos War, had been chosen not without difficulty, after sometimes long and tedious, yet essential, discussions about points and subjects that had never truly been addressed before. The revelation of the StarDust, as well as the existence of Atma, the Shape of Balance, had…

What Will the World Look Like for Future Generations

If the answer to this question can only be a matter of supposition, one thing is certain: it is the choices made today that will shape the future for generations to come. The Seven Shapes understood well that the Espers, and their Shadow even more so, were creatures naturally inclined to think of themselves first.…

    A Movement on Two Fronts

For the Seven Shapes, it had become obvious. To rebuild Esperia on sound foundations, it was necessary to act on two fronts simultaneously. The first was the systemic level: institutions needed to find the courage to impose laws consistent with shared values embraced by all the lands of the planet. The second was the development…

    Being an Adult

At what moment do we truly become adults? Is it simply a question of age? Of experience? Isn’t being an adult, in the end, the awareness of our own responsibility toward others, and in particular toward future generations? In their desire to rebuild Esperia on healthier foundations, the Seven Shapes had placed this notion of…

    Remembering the Fundamentals

Kenko, the Shape of Health, and the Great element of Earth were the perfect representation to remember how important the fundamentals were. Just as the ground lays the foundations for a solid structure, the element of earth was certainly, by nature, the element closest to these fundamentals. The world needed to return to the basics,…

    What Seems Obvious to Us…

It is not necessarily so for others. And if this conclusion may seem trivial, we still have to have thought about it in order to perceive it. For when discussions become more heated and arguments begin to emerge, this awareness disappears beneath the veil of our Shadow, which then acts in our place when we…

    Global Understanding Impossible Without Compromise

This was the conclusion that now seemed obvious to everyone, following the global disaster of the Chaos War. No understanding on a planetary scale would be possible without compromise. And the world before the war was far from being a world where making compromises came naturally. On the contrary, by exacerbating individualism, it had become…
