Perceiving Reality

The development of the civilization of the Espers, greatly accelerated by the use of magic for decades, had gradually distanced them from reality.

The reality of a physical world with limited resources, shared by everyone.

Some indeed believed that by blaming the other elemental regions, or by choosing not to get their own hands dirty while dirtying those of neighboring regions, they could then have a clear conscience.

But facing reality also means seeing the world as a whole, especially since magic had enabled the globalization of the planet’s entire economy.

The waste and pollution of one region were not merely a problem concerning the others.

It was truly a problem shared by all the inhabitants of the planet.

The Espers, who sometimes believed themselves to be above everyone else because, it was true, they now dominated the entire planet, were nevertheless still unable to perceive a reality that was actually quite simple.

They had to act together on a global scale, in everyone’s interest.

The oceans, forests, lands, and resources were shared by all.

Perceiving reality then meant becoming aware of this sharing on a global scale…
