The Elegance of Moderation

Rebuilding Esperia on a sound foundation necessarily meant changing the system, placing emphasis on the values suited to a world with limited resources, where the remaining ecosystem that allowed the Espers to feed themselves and, quite simply, to live had to be protected.

The period leading up to the Chaos War had been marked, among other things, by the disproportionate rise of a force advocating an extremism of life. A boundless and limitless delusion of grandeur that disregarded the physical reality in which everyone nevertheless lived.

Fueled by leaders disconnected from the rest of the world, who saw nothing beyond their own personal interests to satisfy until their deaths, which they tried to postpone for as long as possible, the world had become a farce, where the childish antics of the elites spread across the globe at the expense of overconsumption.

The elegance of moderation.

It was a way of promoting decency and restraint as virtues that were finally appreciated and accepted for their true worth.

For exercising moderation, it is true, had sometimes been perceived as a lack of ambition, or as a sad, even lifeless, way of life.

Promoting mature, temperate, and thoughtful behavior had now become possible.

Something unimaginable to anyone who had lived in the days before the Chaos War.

    Interdependence in a Limited World

Listening to Others and Listening to Yourself

Their history, spanning several tens of thousands of years, had led them, not without difficulties, to control their planet, to the point of being capable of impacting its global ecosystem. The discovery and use of magic had accelerated the evolution of their civilization, but they also…
