The Limits of the World

Vati held one of the most challenging responsibilities as the Shape of Wisdom. She had to convince the Espers that they lived in a world with limitations.

A very difficult task! For magic could be seen everywhere they looked! Many young Espers naturally believed that anything was possible—as long as they kept discovering new forms of magic.

But even though Esperia was a world where magic existed, with laws of physics unlike those on Earth, the fact remained: the planet they lived on had limits, too.
Espers needed the natural elements to survive.

They needed the Water, the Wind, the Lightning, the Earth, and the Fire that could be found throughout their world. If any one of these Elements were to disappear, the magic tied to it would vanish forever.

Vati was there to remind them:
“To use any elemental magic, the element itself must be nearby. No natural element, no magic.”
