We are all different, each with our own strengths. Let’s embrace and utilize our unique qualities

Hanamichi Sakuragi Slam Dunk Fitness Awareness Willpower Learning

Sakuragi starts as a complete beginner in basketball. Realizing that traditional free throw techniques didn’t suit him due to a lack of practice, he decided to try a different approach. Despite other players laughing at his unconventional shooting style, he managed to score some points—something he likely wouldn’t have achieved with techniques he hadn’t practiced.

We Are All Different

Everyone is unique, shaped by our education, personal experiences, and genetics. What works for one person may not work for another, and sometimes trying something different is the key to success. Embracing this mindset encourages us to persist and believe that we can achieve the outcomes we desire.

Unfortunately, societal standards often pressure us to conform. When we deviate from these norms—whether in our thinking, appearance, tastes, or perceptions—we might feel the weight of being different.

Personal Experience

My perception of the Japanese language has evolved since I first came to Japan and as I’ve lived here for several years. The meaning of words has deepened and become more nuanced for me. However, compared to native speakers, my understanding is still relatively superficial. This is true for all experiences—our perceptions of colors, smells, and sounds are influenced by our personal backgrounds.

Let’s strive to remain open to new possibilities and the diverse opinions of others. Recognizing that everyone’s perspective is shaped by their unique experiences can help us appreciate and learn from the differences we encounter.
