Whether to Act or Not

The undertaking begun by the Seven Shapes since the end of the Chaos War, to reshape society in a fairer way for everyone and in harmony with the planet’s ecosystem, was obviously a daunting one.

Numerous debates and discussions on a wide variety of subjects had emerged, sometimes themselves branching off into other discussions, either more general or more detailed.

One of the subjects under discussion concerned the decision of whether or not to act.

Of course, as was now always the case, balance was essential in the debates, and the goal was not to reject the others’ arguments at all costs, but to try to find common ground together on subjects that were nevertheless complex.

For nature, for example, not acting and allowing the ecosystem to renew itself naturally was perhaps the best approach. Helping it was not to be ruled out, but letting things take their natural course seemed to be the right option.

When it came to educating the younger ones, however, it seemed important to teach shared values and morality, whatever the region. In that case, simply letting things take their course seemed rather like a decision that lacked responsibility, especially since the StarDust had been revealed.

But in the end, thinking about these questions, and deciding whether or not to act, was perhaps the most important stage for the civilization of the Espers.

Developing their critical thinking and debating subjects that had until then never existed in the public sphere…
