Accepting Differences

Admitting the reality of things is not always easy.

Society’s words, the education we receive and, consequently, our prejudices often turn our eyes away from a truth that can sometimes be difficult to accept.

The civilisation of the Espers was no exception to this rule, but the renewal of their planet, finally understood as essential, had changed certain values.

Every Esper was different. This was a fact, a reality. A reality that was nevertheless sometimes forgotten under the banner of good intentions, promoting an equality that does not exist.

Returning to reality was therefore crucial. This was particularly true when it came to finally facing the real problems caused by the excessive and unrestricted use of magic, which had destroyed a large part of the ecosystem so quickly and violently that an Esper from ancient times would no longer recognise their own planet.

Equality for all was therefore not the goal to be achieved. Equity for all, on the other hand, was a value that made more sense, as it took into account differences present from birth, but also, and perhaps above all, those arising from the social circumstances and living environment in which each individual had developed.

Finally, accepting the differences that make each individual unique meant opening the door to discussions that could lead to the creation of a fairer and more equitable system for all.

    A Sincere Willingness to Share

The Chaos War had clearly shown that the cycle of wars would never end as long as people’s mindsets did not evolve. And the discovery of magic, which had made the civilization of the Espers more prosperous, had in no way changed the way they saw things.
