Accepting Our Mistakes

No one, whoever they were, could change the face of the world alone.

The Seven Shapes understood this well, and although they had now become the symbol of Esperia’s renewal, they also knew that the efforts would have to be made by everyone.

And for that, first and foremost, it was important to accept one’s mistakes.

It is always easy to place the blame on others, on circumstances, or on the past.
But failing to act when the reality before our eyes should drive us to rise up is also a form of mistake.

Accepting one’s mistakes also means finding a way out of a state of collective denial in the face of the consequences, now becoming increasingly visible, of the use of magic over decades.

Magic seemed to be the cure for everything.

Those who had mastered it best had risen to the heights of a society that had become increasingly dependent on it.

But Aether, the planet’s source of life, was gradually being depleted.
An entire planet, little by little scarred by beings who now had the means to wound it more deeply than it might appear.

Accepting one’s mistakes therefore meant finally facing reality and acting for a civilization that would have to carry the consequences of its own past actions on its shoulders.

Denying it would change nothing.

Or rather, it would place even greater pressure on the efforts that future generations would have to make.

But who still puts their children first in this world?
