According to One’s Own Interests

The discussion of the day, in the Consciousness section of the Great Library of Esperia, was quite thorny.
Indeed, no one easily admits their faults, nor the fact that we first act according to our own interests.

Eklea, the Shape of Consciousness, made the following remark:

“As living beings among others, it is sometimes our primary instincts that speak in our place: in the interest of our survival, we are led to make unconscious choices that serve our own interests.”

“So it is our inner Shadow that speaks in our place, isn’t it?” called out an Esper present in the room.

“Exactly. And thanks to the Element of Lightning, it becomes easier to detect when it is she who is acting in our place. In a flash, one can become aware of it, once this element has been sufficiently developed.”

“But we may have already acted thoughtlessly toward others at times, haven’t we?”

“Yes, of course. But noticing our own mistakes and acting accordingly is like a small challenge we give ourselves. And it also develops our Element of Fire, which is linked to our willpower!”
