Empathy Beyond Borders

What isn’t in front of our eyes is often ignored.

The place you live in is your own little world. If you were lucky enough, you were born in a wealthy country, at peace, where your basic needs are met each day.

But there are other places beyond the borders of your own space, where war is raging, and genocides are being committed.

Modern technologies have given us the ability to expand our little world to include the entire planet Earth.

We now have the tools to choose what we put in front of our eyes.

We can feign ignorance. We can claim it’s not our concern. But if you have the privilege to live without hardship, you also have a responsibility to act on behalf of those who were not as fortunate.

Adults may have had choices. Children did not.

Empathy goes beyond borders.
