Gambling on the Future of the World

Since the birth of Atma, the Shape of Balance, it had become easier for the Espers to understand that a life in harmony with nature was the path forward for all.

But some Espers, whose inner Shadow had, over the years, darkened their hearts enough, refused to accept this reality.

“We are beings endowed with powerful magic. We can certainly continue to act as we please, just as before. Where is the proof that our magic consumes the Aether, this so-called life source of Esperia?” exclaimed one of the most powerful Espers in Esperia.

“On the contrary, restraining ourselves would only hasten our own extinction. We should use our magic to solve all our problems.”

“Is it not our magic that defines us, we Espers, and sets us apart from the other species?”

Time had passed since the end of the War of Chaos, and although The Seven Shapes had begun to implement a resolution of peace for Esperia, some remained completely absorbed in their own vision of the world.
