Giving Your Trust

The Seven Shapes continued to study the Shadow of the civilization of the Espers that had been perceived when the StarDust was revealed before everyone’s eyes.

On an individual level, now that every Esper had the ability to perceive their own Shadow, it had been understood that this Shadow was very fearful and wary.

Its nature being to ensure the survival of its host at all costs, its first instinct was to fear above all else.

But the Seven Shapes had also understood that the Espers had to learn to live together, and that, in order to do so, it was essential to learn to give their trust to others.

The first step, as always, is often the hardest.

Breaking the ice requires effort, energy, and above all, opening oneself up.

A true leap into the unknown, which sometimes, it is true, may not land where one had hoped.

One can be deceived, disappointed, or even ignored sometimes.

But is that not once again the reaction of a person still ruled by their Shadow, who sometimes sees, in someone giving their trust, an attempt at intrusion?

Giving your trust means learning to listen to others, but also, and perhaps above all, learning to listen to yourself…
