Learning to Know Your Shadow

Before the revelation of the StarDust to everyone, the presence within each Esper of a Shadow of their own had sometimes been glimpsed, suspected, or felt, but never had it been so easy to perceive.

It was therefore a new experience for many, intriguing, surprising, sometimes even difficult and trying, but always real.

For this Shadow cannot be separated from the person who possesses it.

Neither one nor the other is the true one.

Both represent a unique self, and that is why learning to know one’s Shadow meant learning to know oneself better.

Moments of meditation, when one can be surprised by the flow of thoughts that seem disordered within this Shadow.

Or moments when one takes the time to observe a nature that is becoming increasingly discreet in the face of modern technologies, and which makes us realize the smallness of our own self before the vastness of the entire Universe.

Knowing one’s Shadow better is not a promise of happiness, nor even of any kind of thing that has value for society.

It is simply the promise of realizing who we truly are.

    Sowing the Seeds of Awareness

Each Esper saw the world in a different way. But the reality of the physical world in which they all lived was, indeed, shared by all. In this context, some Espers were more aware of their vision of the world and of how closely it reflected reality. Children, who were born without any knowledge, could…

A Simple Speck Among the Stars

The Espers throughout the world had the unfortunate tendency to think of themselves as the center of the world. Investing Time Every Day

The civilization of the Espers before the Chaos War had gradually become accustomed to having everything done almost instantly. Waiting was becoming unbearable for many of them, and a long-term perspective seemed like nothing more than a vague memory of the past. Now that the StarDust was better understood, however, it seemed obvious that investing…

    Perceiving Reality

The development of the civilization of the Espers, greatly accelerated by the use of magic for decades, had gradually distanced them from reality. Choosing Is Difficult

Faya, the Shape of Willpower and a great element of Fire, had chosen this title to lead a debate about taking responsibility and the choices each Esper had to make regarding it. In All Simplicity

It is very easy and natural to believe that we are the center of the Earth. And in a society increasingly concerned with individual freedoms, this way of thinking can only spread. Yet it is just as easy to take even a few minutes to reflect on the situation as a whole. By zooming out,…
