Mens sana in corpore sano

While knowledge of a healthy way of life is of course important, Kenko, the Shape of Health, emphasizes practice above all. Because to have “a healthy mind in a healthy body,” you must care for both!

Body and mind are connected, and since time is limited and balance is key, Kenko always reminded the Espers that both must be nurtured daily.

“I know, everyone has their own preference. Some like to exercise, for some it’s easier to eat well, and others care for their mind by reading or spending time with compassion.”

“What about those who don’t really enjoy any of that?”

“This is where my friend Faya, the Shape of Willpower and Element of Fire, can help! Doing the things we don’t feel like doing actually strengthens us even more. Ironic, isn’t it?”

    Population Regulation

The Espers were at the top of the food chain. And since the use of magic, they had also acquired the means to raze mountains, devastate forests, and drain lakes. Their means of food production had developed, but history had shown that even though they were at the top of the pyramid, famines and epidemics…

For many, the days when searching for food took up most of the…

    Universal Consciousness

This was the starting point of a reflection by Eklea, the Shape of Consciousness, concerning a paradox of Esper civilization: on an individual scale, an act may seem entirely rational.…

Values at the Heart of the System

The world before the Chaos War was quite a bewildering spectacle. On the one hand, the use of magic had given the Espers technologies that allowed them to satisfy their thirst for individuality and freedom, which they championed under the banner of modernity. But on the other hand, the system in which they lived had…
