Overflowing Energy

If there was one thing the Espers of the Earth element were known for, it was their overflowing energy.
Kenko, the Forme of Health and the Great Earth element, often reminded Espers around the world that it was not innate.

“It is true that the Earth element may be the most suited to vitality. But even this element, if it is not developed daily, will lose all its vigor.”

“In the same way, all Espers, whatever their element, can develop their Earth element and reach immeasurable levels of energy!”

An Esper of the Wind present at the day’s lesson expressed his opinion:
“But I don’t like working on my Earth element.”

Kenko smiled and answered him gently.

“To be honest, only a few Espers enjoy making these efforts. For the others, it is difficult and requires the will to begin. But if you think about it carefully, it kills two birds with one stone!”

“Two birds with one stone?” asked the young Esper in surprise.

“Yes, because by forcing ourselves to develop our health, we also develop our Fire element: our will!”

“Then we become stronger not only in Earth magic, but also in Fire magic!” concluded the young Wind Esper, now convinced that he could strengthen both his Earth and Fire magic.

    Time to Reflect

It had become one of the pillars of the new Esperia. Shala, the Shape of Time, allowed Espers around the world to remember the importance of taking time to reflect. Time that, for many, had been devoted to entertainment before the Chaos War. They absolutely had to kill time. The use of magic had made…

The discovery of the StarDust throughout the world had made one thing possible for the first time: discussing serious subjects had finally become possible. The civilization of the Espers, until then bound by taboos, such as attitudes toward death, old age, and illness, had become aware of the need to confront social problems, without which…

    Returning to the Basics

The civilization of the Espers before the Chaos War had gradually drifted away from its foundations. It was becoming increasingly difficult for them to give importance to their basic physiological needs, because these needs were no longer right in front of them. For many, the days when searching for food took up most of the…

    Universal Consciousness

How can we not naturally think that we are at the center of the world when we see the world only through our own eyes? This was the starting point of a reflection by Eklea, the Shape of Consciousness, concerning a paradox of Esper civilization: on an individual scale, an act may seem entirely rational.…

    If Innocence Were Queen

Observing how the civilization of the Espers behaved before the Chaos War, one might believe that they were all afflicted by a destructive madness, or were desperately trying to get the better of others at their expense. Values at the Heart of the System

The world before the Chaos War was quite a bewildering spectacle. On the one hand, the use of magic had given the Espers technologies that allowed them to satisfy their thirst for individuality and freedom, which they championed under the banner of modernity. But on the other hand, the system in which they lived had…

Reconnecting with Strong Bonds to What Is Essential

The civilization of the Espers had gradually moved away from what was nevertheless necessary to meet their natural physiological needs. Being able to feed themselves had become an ordinary act, with no apparent connection to nature, its resources, or the ecosystem of which they were nevertheless a part. Why was it important, in the eyes…
