For Simba, our adorable little monkey from the land of lightning, observing the way Roboka behaved in the face of the immeasurable number of choices that society now offered made him reflect deeply.
“There are now so many possibilities that simply thinking about them can completely overwhelm us,” he thought.
Yet, Roboka did not worry about any of this. Being still a very young robot, she did not ask herself any more questions than that, and was only interested in what passed before her eyes in the present moment.
“The younger ones, if they are not directly confronted with the real problem that choice represents, are still subjected to the decisions made by adults, who carry this responsibility and shape the world through them…”
“In a world with infinite resources and a healthy environment, the way society has evolved would not create any problems…”
“But now that we understand that resources are limited, that we all share one single planet, that the use of magic has caused irreversible damage, and that this will continue as long as magic remains essential to the functioning of the world, it becomes obvious, if we take the time to think about it, that there are major problems that urgently need to be solved.”
“Because as long as magic remains at the heart of society’s development, the long-term consequences for future generations will become increasingly devastating…”
“But in order to understand that this multitude of choices also deprives us of our time, we would need to succeed in escaping the vicious circle created by all these possibilities, a circle in which we are already trapped, often without even realizing it…”
