The Importance of Nuance

The values of Esper civilization, decided following the end of the Chaos War, had been chosen not without difficulty, after sometimes long and tedious, yet essential, discussions about points and subjects that had never truly been addressed before.

The revelation of the StarDust, as well as the existence of Atma, the Shape of Balance, had been two essential events in this renewal.

Why?

First, because understanding that every individual had the ability to change and to understand their inner self through simple mechanisms had made it possible to restore communication and trust between individuals, which had gradually been lost until reaching its recent climax during the Chaos War.

Then, understanding the importance of balance, represented by Atma, had also changed the way the Espers viewed things.

Showing nuance had now become self-evident: every Esper had strengths and weaknesses, and therefore, no one possessed an absolute truth.

Blind belief, but also being unable to trust, were then signs of a lack of nuance.

Showing nuance makes dialogue and listening possible, and this is certainly what makes Esper civilization strong: being able to work together…
