To act in one’s own favor

Now that the teachings of One Daily Tale had become the common educational writings for all the Espers of Esperia, following its principles had become evident and natural.

But newborn Espers were all born as complete blank pages, shaped by their closest environment.

Some Espers who had been very powerful in the past, when Chaos reigned and magical powers ruled, were bitter about their now-lost domination over others.

Even though Esperia was now at peace, they would sometimes continue to act only in their own favor. Instead of thinking for the sake of the whole group and of nature, they would try to take the most for themselves alone.

But what had changed since then was that now, the majority of Espers could recognize this kind of behavior, and while it took effort and time, and a great deal of willpower to be honest, they would try their best to talk and listen to one another.

Because they could now understand that even this kind of foolish, selfish behavior was in reality their hidden Shadow acting through them: they still had not been able to develop their StarDust.
