Obligations and Emotions

The Espers were not the only creatures on their planet endowed with consciousness; animals or even plants had evolved to develop it as well.

Vingel was a creature that resembled a small dog. After the loss of his mother, he had fallen into despair, and had not realized that he had gradually lost the ability to express his emotions.

A chance encounter with a Wind Esper allowed him to finally see the feelings he had unconsciously repressed during years of sorrow, unable to truly mourn.

By repressing his emotions, he had also lost his attachment to the world around him, and the obligations that still existed felt meaningless to him.

Now, confronted with the reality unfolding before his eyes, he also realized that a balance between obligations and emotions could give rise to a mindset that valued kindness above profit or loss.

Without realizing it, he had indeed become withdrawn and selfish.

But he now understood that he was no longer alone. He had never been, but a veil of pain had quietly settled before his eyes, making him unable to perceive reality.
