Taking Mental Health Seriously

If there is one thing that is difficult for the Espers to do, it is to properly take into consideration everything that is not visible to their eyes: the future rather than the present moment, the system as a whole rather than their personal situation, the general Shadow of their entire civilization

And mental health may perhaps be connected to this general Shadow.

If each Esper is part of society as a whole, the Shadow of that society, resulting from billions of individuals, can hardly be perfectly aligned with each individual.

Disparities exist and can deteriorate an individual’s mental health.

Understanding the direction society is taking, while seeing it turn a deaf ear to calls concerning the problems of climate change or inequalities throughout the world, is certainly a source of inner conflict.

Young people are particularly sensitive to the contradictions of this general Shadow and can therefore become vulnerable to unstable mental health.

Good health, both physical and mental, is nevertheless essential to illuminate the element of Earth with its StarDust.
