Accepting Our Mistakes

No one, whoever they were, could change the face of the world alone.

The Seven Shapes understood this well, and although they had now become the symbol of Esperia’s renewal, they also knew that the efforts would have to be made by everyone.

And for that, first and foremost, it was important to accept one’s mistakes.

It is always easy to place the blame on others, on circumstances, or on the past.
But failing to act when the reality before our eyes should drive us to rise up is also a form of mistake.

Accepting one’s mistakes also means finding a way out of a state of collective denial in the face of the consequences, now becoming increasingly visible, of the use of magic over decades.

Magic seemed to be the cure for everything.

Those who had mastered it best had risen to the heights of a society that had become increasingly dependent on it.

But Aether, the planet’s source of life, was gradually being depleted.
An entire planet, little by little scarred by beings who now had the means to wound it more deeply than it might appear.

Accepting one’s mistakes therefore meant finally facing reality and acting for a civilization that would have to carry the consequences of its own past actions on its shoulders.

Denying it would change nothing.

Or rather, it would place even greater pressure on the efforts that future generations would have to make.

But who still puts their children first in this world?

    Failures

There is a certain irony in how the human brain works: for us to learn and grow, we also need to fail personally. Babies do it naturally when trying to grab objects, sit up, or learn how to walk: they try, fail, try again, fail again… When this was understood by the Espers on Esperia,…

    Empathy

What truly defines us as humans? What sets us apart from other species? Not our physical strength, nor our intelligence. It is our social abilities—our capacity to form groups of many individuals—that have led the human species to eventually dominate the Earth. Empathy is our ability to understand and share the feelings of another. It…

Mastering a language is one of the key skills to develop. Why?…

  • Natural Resources

    Natural Resources

In just a few hundred years, the shape of the Earth has drastically changed—mostly due to the use of fossil fuels that created the “world of abundance” we live in today. While this allowed some countries to thrive on this new “black gold,” when we realize that this resource is, first, not infinite, and second,…

  • The “Modern World”

    The “Modern World”

“As long as humans don’t realize their own nature, new technologies won’t solve any real issues.” In the last two centuries, the modern world has given rise to modern civilization: globalization, overconsumption, a world that seems boundless and infinite—a reflection of the most powerful country in the world. But when we understand that the resources…
