Beliefs

We now understand that humans are drawn to stories. Long before the digital era—or even before writing—knowledge was passed down through generations by stories told aloud. Whenever someone tells a story, it is no longer reality but a fiction that carries beliefs within it.

The natural fear of danger within our species makes us adopt the beliefs of those we trust, while the beliefs of others become ones we tend to judge—or even fear.

Throughout the ages, these beliefs have taken many forms, often created to explain phenomena beyond human understanding. The Olympian gods of Greek mythology are a clear example of such beliefs.

Today’s religions are also shared beliefs, as is the force that seems to rule them all in our modern world: money.

Now reduced to mere numbers on screens, money has become the most powerful belief of all—one that has more followers than the most renowned influencer could ever dream of.
